Measure a Wall for a Wallpaper Mural

1. Introduction

Is your wall an unusual shape or size? This guide shows you how to measure your wall in preparation for that stunning new custom wallpaper mural.
As a general rule, measure the wall twice to ensure accuracy.
Measure the largest width and the largest height of your project, then add 5 cm to the width and the height.
The extra 5 cm allows for ceilings and floors that are slightly off square.

2. Standard wall measure

For walls that are typically square or rectangular, simply measure the full width of your wall from edge to edge.
Measure the height of both the right and left side of the wall as the two sides can often differ.
If one side is shorter than the other, select the greater of the two heights.
Now add an extra 5cm to the height and width of your wall to accommodate any variations in the height and width.
Any excess can be trimmed when you hang your wallpaper mural onto the wall.

3. Unique shape wall measure

If your wall is in a top story or is a unique shape, measure the width and height of the greatest lengths on your wall and ignore any slants or slopes.
The wallpaper mural will be supplied as a full rectangle wallpaper and the slope will be cut away after hanging the wallpaper mural.
Now add an extra 5 cm to the height and width of your wall to accommodate any variations in the height and width.
This can be trimmed off once your wallpaper mural is installed.

4. Walls with doors/windows to measure

If there are any obstacles on your wall, such as doors or windows, simply measure the entire wall as you would for a full standard wall
The obstacle will be cut away during the wallpaper mural installation.
Now add an extra 5 cm to the height and width of your wall to accommodate any variations in the height and width.
This can be trimmed off once your wallpaper mural is installed.

This guide is designed to assist in the preparation for PVC-free water-activated wallpaper mural installation.
Measure the wall twice to ensure accuracy.
Wallpaper mural width is 700-1000mm whichever suits the overall size.
Add an extra 5 cm to the height and width of your wallpaper mural to accommodate any variations in the height and width.
Any excess is trimmed when you install your wallpaper.
Check, check and check your measurements again! If you are in any doubt, add a little extra. It’s easy to trim your wallpaper mural during installation.
Ideally, use a tape measure that is long enough to measure the entire wall.
If you don’t want to fill your entire wall, you can order wallpaper to cover only part of it.
